Working Families members around the state interview prospective candidates who’ve applied for the Working Families endorsement. It’s a grassroots process that helps hold politicians accountable to working people.
How it works:
Politicians seeking the Working Families endorsement and our line on the ballot go through a rigorous review process. First, candidates apply by filling out our thorough questionnaire. We want to know where they stand on all the issues that matter to working families: everything from affordable healthcare, to fair taxes, to outsourcing to education. We research their records and their voting history too.
Then, candidates appear before screening committees, where local Working Families members have the chance to question prospective candidates face to face. In today’s politics, it’s an all too rare moment that politicians have to answer directly to ordinary people, but that’s what the Working Families Party is all about.
We only endorse the candidates that share our values and are committed to our priorities — those who will put working families first.
