E.I.T.C. NOW
June 19th, 2007 by Joe DinkinThe budget negotiations are coming to a close. The Democrats have given up on the progressive income tax. The deal also doesn’t include a boosted property tax credit. You can read more about it at the Courant and the Journal Inquirer.
It seems that there is only one more issue we’ve been working for that remains to be resolved in the budget: the Earned Income Tax Credit.
The federal EITC has been the most successful anti-poverty program in our nation’s history. Too many working families in Connecticut live in poverty. A Connecticut earned income tax credit will magnify the effect of the federal EITC and help reward hard work.
If you haven’t done it yet, please go to our website, and email Governor Rell, Rep. Amann, and Sen. Williams, and remind them that the EITC is important to you. Budget negotiations could be over any day. Sending an email won’t take more than ten seconds.
